Surrey Successes Indoors
Freddie Arkell (above left) won gold in 6.79 in the Senior Men's 60m at the Surrey Indoors Championships over the weekend of 14/15 March in an event which also saw the early introduction of the new junior age groups. James O'Flynn won bronze in the U18M 60m in 7.04.
In the field events Oliver Mealor won the U18M long jump (5.88m), while Soraya Stevens (above second from right) took the silver medal in the U18W triple jump (10.74m). Savannah Brown also won silver in the U16G triple jump (9.07m). Ariane Freemantle (above right) took the bronze in the U16G long jump (5.06m), Shazaan Syed won bronze in the U16 Boys triple jump, with 10.31m, and Sasha McHugh bronze in the U16 Boys high jump (1.63m).
In the Senior Women's events Lydia Sailer (above second from left) took gold in the high jump (1.35m) and bronze in the shot (9.01m). Florence Conerney won the long jump with 4.40m and Mark Andrews won the high jump with 1.60m, the triple jump with 10.53m, and was second in the shot with 9.35m.
A Swift Half
Ruby Carter continued re-writing the Club rankings, breaking Claire Grima's 17 year-old record when she clocked 76:36 at the Bath Half Marathon on 15 March. From 5K upwards Ruby has now claimed all the road records, bar 10-Miles and the Marathon, which Claire still holds!
