100m / MILE Night

A new fixture for 2019, bringing together sprinters and middle distance runners, with £100 prize money for the best 100m and Mile performances (men and women) of the night.

There will be two rounds of 100m with the first round seeded according to PB and the second round based on the results of the first round.

In between there will be a series of open graded Mile races culminating in The Dave Clarke Mile for men and women U20/Senior. The mile is still considered such a special event that it is the only non-metric distance recognised by the IAAF in terms of records.

About the Dave Clarke Mile

Dave Clarke, one of Britain's finest cross country runners, and one of  Hercules Wimbledon’s best known track athletes (as well as our Chairman) – who ran for Great Britain (GBR) in the 5,000m at the inaugural World Track and Field Championships at Helsinki in 1983. Three times English Cross Country Champion, he represented Great Britain eleven times in the World Cross Country Championships, and in the heyday of British middle and long distance running in the eighties and nineties, he lined up alongside the likes of Dave Moorcroft, Brendan Foster, Mike McLeod, Tim Hutchins, Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett.

Dave set his best time of 3:56.95 for the mile at Crystal Palace in 1982 when representing Great Britain against the USA.

First event: 6:40pm
