Gold Rush

Over the weekend of 8/9 February at the England Athletics U15/U17 U20 Indoor Championships in Sheffield the Club’s young sprint stars won two gold medals in less than five minutes.

Conor Kelly (above) was dominant in the 400m, taking the U20 title in a new PB of 46.80, while following on from his gold at the SEAA Indoor Championships, Matthew Wehrle took the U17 400m title in 49.97, bettering the PB he set in the semi final. And the medals for Paul Miller’s sprint group continued as talented U17 hurdler, Maia Heward-Mills, won bronze in the 60mH in a PB of 8.58, having also qualified for the semi-finals of the flat 60m to equal her PB of 7.71.

Tommaso Crosara and Pablo Carriedo won silver and bronze respectively in the U15 Boys 300m, both clocking PBs of 37.76s and 40.25. The following day Pablo ran 23.65 to finish fourth in the 200m final. 

In the triple jump U15G Ariana Freemantle won the silver medal in with a leap of 10.72m, a PB by 30cm, having just missed out on the podium in the long jump the previous day, when she achieved another PB of 5.01m.  

Isabella Harrison was fifth in the U17W 1500m final, in 4:37.74.
