A Championship in three parts

For 2025 the Surrey Championships in Kingston were split even further – from two parts last year, to three this year – in a further attempt to take in all the events across the age groups without officials being subjected to too long a schedule – such huge numbers of entries has meant that in recent years the event has frequently over-run.

In part one on 12 April Tom Davies won silver in the U20 2000m Steeplechase in his first race over the full height barriers, and there was an excellent haul of medals at the Main Championships over the weekend of 10/11 May.

Flying Start in the Southern Athletics League

While many of the Club’s athletes were in action in the final episode of the County Championships the senior team headed to Portsmouth for the the first of this season’s four Southern Athletics League matches, earning an impressive away win thanks in large part to the sprint squad. As a result the team finished with 278 points ahead of home club City of Portsmouth AC, to set them up well for the Club’s home fixture on June 22nd.

Adam Ofeimun won the Men’s A 100m and 400m in PBs of 10.96 and 51.76 respectively Jaleel Roper, who won the B string 200m (22.82s)  was a strong second in the B team over 100m, clocking 11.08. Javon Blake, still an U20, was second for the B-string in the 400m, in 52.03.
