Ben Toomer and Dominic Kiralyfi posted excellent times in the New York marathon last Sunday. Toomer clocked 2:27.56 to finish in 47th in the men's race and 58th overall, out of 53,518 runners, in his first first 'serious' marathon since he ran London in 2012, back in his university days, in 3:02:42. Kiralyfi, who, like Toomer, is currently based in New York, also achieved a PB of 2:34:09 (his previous best of 2:36:46 was set in London in 2016) finishing 89th in the men's race and 104th overall. Both ran remarkably even-paced races with Toomer reaching the half-way point in 1:13:44 and Kiralyfi in 1:16:50. Eileen Toomer, who like husband Ben and Kiralyfi was making her New York debut, unfortunately dropped out after 17 miles.

Congratulations too, to Matt Sharp who clocked 68:54 in the Valencia Half Marathon on October 27 –  a PB and Club M40 record, which ranks him 9th in his age group in the UK.
